About the Artwork

Trap Music to Freedom confronts the paradox of music as both liberation and captivity. The central figure, a young Black man with wings, sits in a cage formed by oversized headphones, his hands bound in chains. On one side, bright colors, dancers, and musical notes celebrate the energy of music; on the other, industry symbols hint at control and profit. This contrast reflects how trap music rooted in struggle and survival offers joy, resilience, and escape, even while systems of power attempt to confine its spirit. The work is a call to recognize both the beauty and the barriers within music culture, and the ongoing fight for true creative freedom.

Artist Bio

Her practice is rooted in experimentation and storytelling, blending traditional techniques with contemporary approaches. Now, as an art teacher, she shares her love for creativity with students, inspiring the next generation to explore and express their own artistic voices.
