Khadija Jahmila (b. 1993, Maryland) is an Afro-Caribbean mixed-media artist and educator. Her work blends hand-cut paper and digital collage to explore Afrofuturistic themes and surrealism, creating immersive visual narratives that celebrate the humanity, intersectionality, and otherworldliness of the African diaspora.
Khadija’s practice is rooted in community and visual storytelling. As part of the 2025 Residency cohort at Eaton House, she developed art programming for the hotel and the DC metro area. She also served as the Season Artist for Baltimore Center Stage’s 2024–2025 season, where she collaborated with directors and playwrights to design the primary visuals and physical installations for all six productions.
In addition to her studio work, Khadija facilitates workshops that encourage playful exploration. She teaches mixed-media to young students and co-instructs creative sessions for adults living with dementia and their care partners. A recipient of the 2020 NextGen Award from VisArts, her work has been exhibited across Maryland and Washington, DC, including at Waller Gallery, 11:Eleven Gallery, and Eaton DC.
