"No" is a fiber portrait about boundaries, about the courage it takes to reject what does not serve us and the liberation in standing firm. It aims to create a juxtaposition through the figure’s relaxed pose and playful details, like the smiley face shirt and cross earrings, against the firmness of the statement. The work aims to embody self-assurance, reminding us that saying no is an act of self-preservation and strength.

Brianna J. Pippens is a multidisciplinary artist based in Silver Spring, MD. Known for her bold illustrations, punch needle art, and thoughtful storytelling, her work explores identity, nostalgia, and the beauty of Black life. Self-taught and deeply inspired by community and culture, Brianna blends fine art and everyday experiences to create pieces that resonate with warmth, intention, and truth. Her work has been featured in gallery exhibitions, public art installations, and creative brand collaborations.
